The Foote Field Legacy for Field Hockey

This stadium is one of the legacy facilities from the recent 2001 World Championships in Athletics. The stadium, built at a cost of $9.13 million, included $7.93 in financing from the Championships and another $1.2 million from the University of Alberta. During the Championships, it was used as a practice centre by the international athletes prior to competition. The stadium was built on university land in what is called the "south campus" near the University Farm, about 20 blocks south of the main campus.

Foote Field Features for Field Hockey

There is the showcase track, the new state of the art Mondo surface. There are actually two playing surfaces; a natural grass field for soccer and an artificial surface, complete with lighting, for field hockey. The new stadium also includes modern locker rooms, an aerobics area, as well as weight room, concession and lounge areas.

Saville Centre for Indoor Field Hockey

The new Saville Centre Gym just behind Foote Field is now hosting indoor field hockey in the winter.

University of Alberta Education Gym for Indoor Field Hockey

The Education Gym at the University of Alberta is also used as a field hockey venue.
